"Baby Series 4"Written By: Karina Rating: PG Spoilers: None Disclaimer: I dont own Gundam Wing or the Characters from the series but the baby is mine. Pairing: Milliardo + Duo Many thanks to ShenLong for her work betaing
this fic.
Mayday! Milliardo looked sombre, blonde head lowered, crystal
blue eyes shielded by the pale cascade of disordered bangs. There
was a grim set to his lips that worried Duo, and the tightly clenched
fist resting on the desk top warned of tightly controlled emotion. "What is it?" He stationed himself a touch
outside of the man's personal space and tension stiffened his spine,
anticipating trouble. After a long moment of tense silence the King sighed,
and it was almost painful to see how tightly controlled his movements
were as he placed an earpiece gently on the desk. Long fingers released
the small device with stiff but precise movements as his right hand
absently rubbed at his left temple. He looked tired and drawn, as
though he existed on the edge of spiralling into despair or thrusting
himself into some massive effort he could not avoid. When he said
nothing Duo reached forward and took the earpiece, setting it in his
own ear. For a long moment he could make out only the sharp and
almost painful burst of static crashing at his senses. He winced but
then he froze, concentration sharpening and focusing at the barely
heard garbled whisper of something other than static. There was something...something...Something
just beyond... "...day! Mayday pl..." He clenched his teeth, slowly setting the earpiece down
when the words became once again a cascading avalanche of garbled
sound. The storm was making a hash of their communications systems,
but enough had gotten through to be devastating. There was simply
nothing they could do. Yet... He still had to ask. "What's the wind like now?" The blonde drew in a deep, careful breath. Other than
to draw that single sharper, deeper breath he remained physically
still, tightly controlled and giving the appearance of being contained
to the point of exploding. Duo knew the feeling. Milliardo Peacecraft and Zechs
Merquise both were not men to sit idly by whilst people were in trouble.
But against the forces of nature gone wild, even they could do nothing
more than sit and wait whilst the world crumbled into ruin. "Too high. And the temperature is too damnably
low to permit us to move." He was almost surprised he got any sort of a response.
With a visible effort the set of strong shoulders softened, eased
and fine hands relaxed to lie against the console's frame. Another
deep breath, this one a carefully measured inhalation and equally
carefully measured exhale, and repeated. A breathing exercise designed
to relax; Duo recognised it from his training sessions with Chang. "We can only hope they can hold out until we can
get out of this cage. Its been on the air now for three hours, intermittently.
I've ordered an all bands continual broadcast of the current M.E.T.
conditions. Anyone with a radio receiver should get the message. We
are here, you are not alone." "But we can't come and help you." Duo whispered. "Yet." ~ * ~ |
